Martin MeRuGameplay & Systems Developer

I build gameplay systems and AI in Unreal Engine 5 and Unity.

Five-plus years across software development and data science, now applied to games — behaviour-tree AI, procedural generation, physics systems, and the CI/CD pipelines that ship them.

Background

About

5+ years in software development and data science, now focused on games. My background is object-oriented programming, optimisation and machine learning, which is what I bring to gameplay work — behaviour-tree AI, procedural generation, physics systems, and the tooling that keeps a project shippable.

I work mainly in Unreal Engine 5 and Unity. Across eighteen projects that has meant everything from a survival horror with a sanity system to a roguelike that resolves combat as poker hands, plus Jenkins pipelines that compile builds and push them to itch.io without manual steps. I’m most interested in teams applying AI and machine learning to gameplay rather than treating it as a background system.

Outside work I climb, watch far too many series, and keep an eye out for tools worth adding to the pipeline.

Open to opportunities

Let’s build something memorable

I'm currently looking for game development roles. Gameplay programming, systems, and AI work are where I'm strongest, and I'm especially interested in teams applying machine learning to games.
